Onder de rook van ’s-Hertogenbosch ligt het Bossche Broek, een natuurgebied waar veel Bosschenaren graag een ommetje maken. Vanaf de paadjes tussen de rietvelden en de hooilanden hebben wandelaars fraai zicht op de 18e eeuwse stadswallen en de middeleeuwse Sint-Janskathedraal. Eeuwenlang vormden de moerasgronden van het Bossche Broek een natuurlijke verdedigingslinie. Vanwege de grote militaire betekenis voor de stad is het gebied nauwelijks aangetast. Het weideland vormt een oase van rust aan de drukke stadsrand. Langs het water groeien allerlei moerasplanten en met enig geluk hoort u een blauwborst of een kleine karekiet.
